about harlem grown’s summer camp

Harlem Grown’s summer camp is a seven-week program designed to engage and inspire children to explore the outdoors, become master farmers, taste and create delicious recipes, and lead healthier lives. Campers participate in daily farming activities, learning how to grow food from seed to harvest, and prepare and eat the fruits of their bounty. Campers explore nature, sustainability, and food through weekly themed activities, including cooking, fitness, arts and crafts, science experiments, service projects, and field trips. All produce grown by the campers is taken home to their families or given to other members of the community, free of charge.

How can I apply for my child's spot in summer camp?

Applications for Summer 2024 will be open soon, please fill out this form to be notified when applications are open.

If I complete an application, will my child automatically be enrolled in camp?

No, campers will be selected via a lottery, with preference given to those who have participated in our programs before. Completing an application does not guarantee a spot in camp.

If my child is selected to attend summer camp, what else do I need to do?

In order to attend camp, parents will need to have their child's physician complete the Child and Adolescent Health form required by NYC DOH. Parents will also need to attend a mandatory camp orientation before the start of camp. Orientations will be held across several dates.

What if I have a child that is older than 8th grade?

Children ages 15 to 18 can apply to become a Counselor in Training (CIT). Completing a CIT application does not guarantee selection to the CIT program - CITs will be interviewed and selected by Harlem Grown staff.
